Introduction to Brian Whitaker
Mr. Whitaker is originally from Delaware County, Aston, Pennsylvania and he has lived in New Castle County, City of New Castle, Delaware for over 30 years. He has been involved in local politics since he was a teenager through the present moment. Mr. Whitaker was friends with the late Mayor John Klingmeyer who was a military veteran and the Mayor of New Castle for 36 years. The Mayor and a neighbor, Mr. Robert Nye, encouraged Brian to serve in various roles in local government (e.g., Parks and Recreations and Public Works). He has also appeared as Uncle Sam in the Separation Day Parades back in the late 1990s, and he was on the Separation Day Parade Committee. From the start of his teenage years, Brian Whitaker has been involved in the community. Additionally, Brian also serves as the City Clerk of New Castle.
Seeing the need for major improvement, Brian is currently running for City Council President. Brian advocates for greater involvement in small business development, restoring public integrity, and improving constituent services.

Brian will advocate to provide more public input on city projects, implement a plan to allow for faster responses to constituent concerns, and preserve sites considered historic by the constituents.

Building partnerships with the city, businesses, and residents are key to thriving economy, and looking at our opportunity zones that we can breathe life into to promote areas to thrive.
